Allora prima di addentrarci nel fantastico mondo dei preparativi del matrimonio, facciamo un piccolo salto nel passato. Il secolo scorso è stato caratterizzato da moltissimi eventi nuziali che hanno lasciato in qualche modo un’impronta significativa nella storia.
Brevemente ne andremo a vedere alcuni che ho scelto per voi.
C’era una volta…
1953 Matrimonio di Jacqueline Bouvier con John Fitzgerald Kennedy
L’abito porta la firma di Ann Lowe, stile principessa con scollo a barca e maniche corte, vita molto alta. La gonna è in taffetà molto ampia e lavorata con dei minuscoli fiori d’arancio presenti nei nastri.
Seppur semplice, l’abito venne impreziosito da un lunghissimo velo lavorato con stupende decorazioni floreali. Furono necessari 50 metri di tessuto per realizzare il vestito e il colore usato era crema e avorio.
Il ricevimento in stile regale si tenne presso la tenuta estiva della famiglia di lei e la torta nuziale non poteva certo deludere le aspettative: Una wedding cake alta più di un metro e abbellita da fiori di campo.
1954 Matrimonio di Audrey Hepburn con Mel Ferrer
La nostra icona di stile sposa nel 1954 l’attore Mel Ferrer, scegliendo un abito corto firmato Pierre Balmain. Un abito semplice fatto interamente in satin, il corpetto presentava un collo alto con dei bottoni molto piccoli, maniche lunghe a sbuffo e un fiocco in vita.
La gonna invece a ballerina con delle pieghe, ampia per dare movimento all’abito.. Ovviamente tutti gli accessori, dalle scarpe ai capelli si intonavano perfettamente alla semplicità dell’abito.
Il matrimonio però non dura e con lei facciamo un salto nel 1969 dove Audrey sposa l’italiano Andrea Dotti.
Per questo secondo matrimonio usa un abito dello stilista Hubert De Givenchy e anche in questo caso la semplicità la fa da padrona. Infatti troviamo un abito sobrio, nella tonalità del rosa pallido con maniche lunghe e una scollatura ad imbuto e calze bianche. Abbinate alle calze troviamo le ballerine, i guanti e il foulard. Lei ha segnato la moda degli anni 50/60 e da allora resta un’icona di stile.

Then before we fully enter the fantastic world of preparation, let’s take a leap in to the past. Last century has been characterized by several wedding events that have left an important imprint in history.
Briefly we will go to see some i have chosen for you.
One upon a time…
1953 Jacqueline Bouvier’s marriage to John Fitzgerald Kennedy
The dress bears the signature of Ann Lowe, princess style with boat neckline and short sleeves, very high waist. The skirt is in very wide taffeta and worked with tiny orange flowers present in the ribbons.
Although simple, the dress was embellished with a very long veil worked with beautiful floral decorations. It took 50 meters of fabric to make the dress and the color used was cream and ivory.
The royal-style reception was held at the summer estate of her family and the wedding cake certainly could not disappoint the expectations: A wedding cake over a meter high and embellished with wild flowers.
1954 Marriage of Audrey Hepburn to Mel Ferrer
Our style icon married actor Mel Ferrer in 1954, choosing a short dress by Pierre Balmain. A simple dress made entirely of satin, the bodice featured a high collar with very small buttons, long puffed sleeves and a bow at the waist.
The ballerina skirt instead with pleats, wide to give movement to the dress. Obviously all the accessories, from shoes to hair, perfectly matched the simplicity of the dress.
The marriage, however, does not last and with her we take a leap in 1969 where Audrey marries the Italian Andrea Dotti.
For this second wedding she uses a dress by the designer Hubert De Givenchy and also in this case simplicity is king. In fact we find a sober dress, in the shade of pale pink with long sleeves and a funnel neckline and white stockings. Combined with the socks we find the ballet flats, gloves and the scarf. She marked the fashion of the 50s / 60s and has remained a style icon ever since.
