Alessia Buongiorno a tutti e buon sabato!!! Come state? Oggi vi voglio raccontare del baby shower, ma perchè si chiama così? Soprattutto se lo traduciamo in italiano vorrebbe dire pioggia per bambini; in realtà questo termine deriva dalla festa dedicata alla sposa( bridal shower) dove i regali venivano collocati in un ombrellino parasole che aprendosi faceva cadere i regali sulla futura sposa andando a richiamare così la pioggia. Come vi avevo già detto, questa è una festa che arriva dall’America circa a metà del ‘900 e qui in Italia non è ancora molto usata, anche se qualche mamma la organizza molto volentieri. Ma quando nasce questa usanza? Ci sono alcuni riferimenti che fanno pensare che addirittura i greci e gli egizi avevano una festa simile, visto che ci sono ritrovamenti che fanno pensare a rituali e feste dedicate alla maternità e alla nascita. Nel medioevo le cerimonie erano più che altro legate alle usanze cristiane. Nel rinascimento le donne venivano circondate da regali legati alla gravidanza e alla nascita. In epoca vittoriana veniva organizzato un tea party qualche giorno dopo la nascita rigorosamente invitate di sesso femminile. Nasce dopo la seconda guerra mondiale ed ha il compito di aiutare la famiglia del nascituro ad avere tutto il necessario ad accogliere il piccolo.
Dov’è la festa? Molto spesso questa si svolge a casa della futura mamma, bisogna pensare a come sistemare la sala dove si riceveranno gli ospiti, posti a sedere e appoggi per tutti, allestire il buffet, cucinare, disporre le bevande e ovviamente allestire! Solitamente questa festa viene svolta in torno al settimo mese e se la futura mamma conosce già il sesso del bambino, sarà quello che determinerà tutta la colorazione degli allestimenti, ma se la mamma non vuole sapere il sesso come si fa? Si utilizzano colori come il bianco, il verde, il giallo, talvolta anche mescolati assieme. Oppure si possono usare anche l’azzurro e il rosa con il bianco. L’importante per organizzare una festa piacevole ed arrivare tranquille, vi consiglio di mettere su un foglio tutte le cose da fare. Per prima cosa va scelta la data ( proponete 2 o 3 date in modo da poter scegliere quella che va bene quasi a tutte) e poi il numero di partecipanti che servirà sia per capire quante verranno alla festa sia essa fatta in casa o fuori casa. Ovviamente la scelta dell’ora determina anche la scelta del cibo e bevande offerte. Tradizionalmente l’orario indicato era quello dell’ora del tè, ma nulla vieta di farli anche in altri orari come la mattina o il tardo pomeriggio. Una volta stabilita la fascia oraria della festa , sarà anche più semplice capire quali pietanze offrire; ricordatevi che avete invitato donne alla festa e come ben sapete noi donne siamo sempre attente alla linea, perciò qualche ricetta che non sia troppo pesante o fritta, ma qualcosa di originale e salutare. Nulla vieta di preparare anche cose più pesanti come le frittelle.
Ovviamente per solidarietà verso la mamma si dovrebbe limitare l’uso di alcolici e prediligere altri tipi di bevande, potete sbizzarrirvi nella preparazione di centrifughe, tè freddi aromatizzati, frullati ecc…Dovete considerare il tavolo del buffet e capire come posizionare le cose, da un lato il bere e dall’altro il cibo, faccio tutto monoporzione o mi servono anche i piattini ed eventuali posate? Gli aspetti fondamentali nella preparazione di un tavolo da buffet ricadono sui bicchieri, i vassoi, le alzate, le posate che devono essere valutati all’inizio. Potete decidere se utilizzare tutto usa e getta di quelli carini oppure fare tutto col servizio buono. qualunque cosa scegliate ricordatevi che è una festa semi informale tra amiche.

As I had already told you, this is a festival that comes from America around the middle of the 20th century and here in Italy it is not yet used very much, even if some mothers organize it very willingly. But when was this custom born? There are some references that suggest that even the Greeks and Egyptians had a similar festival, since there are findings that suggest rituals and celebrations dedicated to motherhood and birth. In the Middle Ages, ceremonies were mostly linked to Christian customs. In the Renaissance, women were surrounded by gifts related to pregnancy and birth. In the Victorian era a tea party was organized a few days after the birth, strictly invited of female sex. It was born after the Second World War and has the task of helping the family of the unborn child to have everything necessary to welcome the little one.
Where is the party? Very often this takes place at the home of the future mother, you have to think about how to arrange the room where you will receive guests, seats and supports for everyone, set up the buffet, cook, arrange drinks and of course set up! Usually this party is held around the seventh month and if the future mother already knows the sex of the baby, it will be the one that will determine all the coloring of the arrangements, but if the mother does not want to know the sex, how do you do it? Colors such as white, green, yellow are used, sometimes even mixed together. Or you can also use blue and pink with white. The important thing to organize a pleasant party and arrive calmly, I recommend that you put all the things to do on a sheet. First the date must be chosen (suggest 2 or 3 dates so that you can choose the one that suits almost all of them) and then the number of participants that will be used both to understand how many will come to the party, whether it is home or away from home. Obviously the choice of time also determines the choice of food and drinks offered. Traditionally the time indicated was that of tea time, but nothing prevents them from doing them also at other times such as in the morning or late afternoon. Once the time slot of the party has been established, it will also be easier to understand which dishes to offer; remember that you have invited women to the party and as you well know we women are always attentive to the shape, so some recipes that are not too heavy or fried, but something original and healthy. Nothing prevents you from preparing even heavier things like pancakes.
Obviously, out of solidarity with the mother, you should limit the use of alcohol and prefer other types of drinks, you can indulge yourself in the preparation of centrifuges, flavored iced teas, smoothies etc … You have to consider the buffet table and understand how to place things, on the one hand the drink and on the other the food, do I make all single portions or do I also need the saucers and any cutlery? The fundamental aspects in the preparation of a buffet table fall on the glasses, the trays, the stands, the cutlery that must be evaluated at the beginning. You can decide whether to use all disposable of the nice ones or do everything with good service. whatever you choose, remember that it is a semi-informal party with friends.
